Karl's Curriculum Vitae
Karl Barksdale was a former Development Manager for the Training and Certification team at WordPerfect Corporation and a marketing Manager in the Consumer Products division for WordPerfect/Novell after their corporate merger. He was also the External Training Manager for Google's Online Sales and Operations division. He is best known for authoring and co-authoring over 62 business and computer education textbooks. Albeit, the job he enjoys most is teaching at the Utah County Academy of Sciences, an early college high school on the Utah Valley University Campus.
Karl obtained a master's degree in
Educational Studies/Curriculum from the University of Utah and applied
his degree as the Secondary Curriculum Coordinator for Provo School
District. After the demise of WordPerfect, Karl returned to education
as a Business Education instructor. After retiring from Provo School
District, he continues writing, presenting, and consulting.
Since that time
he has authored over 62 business and computer education textbooks and
over a dozen training manuals for South-Western Educational Publishing,
Course Technology, Speaking Solutions and a variety of other publishers.
His last 44 titles were written using speech recognition software. Karl
is the co-founder of the Summer of Speech training programs credited
with training nearly 10,000 Business Education instructors in the skills
needed to teach speech, handwriting and other DigiTools successfully.
